Martin Callanan, Baron Callanan, is a British Conservative politician and life peer serving in the House of Lords. Born in Gateshead in 1961, he previously worked as an electrical engineer before entering politics. He served as a Member of the European Parliament for North East England from 1999 to 2014, where he also chaired the European Conservatives and Reformists group. Since his elevation to the peerage in 2014, he has held various ministerial roles, including Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport and Minister of State for Exiting the European Union. He currently serves as the Shadow Foreign Secretary in the House of Lords.
