Mata Prasad Pandey

Mata Prasad Pandey is an Indian politician currently serving as the Leader of the Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, a position he assumed in July 2024. A veteran member of the Samajwadi Party, he has represented the Itwa constituency for multiple terms, having first been elected to the state assembly in 1980. Throughout his long career, Pandey has served as the Speaker of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly twice and held ministerial portfolios, including Health and Labour and Employment. Known for his seniority and political experience, he has been a consistent advocate for the upliftment of marginalized communities.
