Matthew Swinbourn is an Australian politician serving as a member of the Western Australian Legislative Council for the East Metropolitan Region. First elected in the 2017 state election, he has been a member of the Labor Party throughout his parliamentary career. Following the 2021 state election, he was appointed as Parliamentary Secretary to the Attorney-General and Minister for Electoral Affairs. Before entering politics, Swinbourn worked extensively in the trade union movement, serving as a workers' compensation officer and industrial officer for organizations including the Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Union, the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union, and the Health Services Union. He also practiced as a lawyer for the CFMEU prior to his election to parliament.
