
Matthias Arends

Matthias Arends is a German politician and a member of the Landtag of Lower Saxony. Born in Emden in 1970, he served as a professional soldier in the German Air Force from 1993 to 2009 before working as a master electrician in the shipbuilding industry. A member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), he has served on the Emden city council and was first elected to the state parliament in 2017, where he represents the constituency of Emden/Norden. He is married and a father of two children.
