Md Abdul Baten is a Bangladeshi politician, retired military officer, author, and Member of the Jatiya Sangsad representing the Dhaka-16 constituency. Born in Rangpur in 1953, he pursued his education at Carmichael College and Rajshahi University before serving as an education officer in the Bangladesh Army and as a principal at various cantonment public colleges until his retirement in 2007. Entering electoral politics, he won the Dhaka-16 seat in the 20th/13th national parliamentary election as a candidate of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, marking a significant political breakthrough for his party in the capital region.
