Upon her election at age 24, she became the youngest woman ever elected to the Queensland Parliament. Throughout her career, she has held several ministerial portfolios, including Minister for the Environment, the Great Barrier Reef, Science and Youth Affairs, and Minister for Housing. Before entering politics, she worked as a lawyer in Brisbane.
