Melissa Hurtado is an American politician currently serving as a member of the California State Senate, representing the 16th Senate District. First elected in 2018 after defeating an incumbent, she has focused on issues affecting the Central Valley, including water access and agricultural policy. Prior to her tenure in the State Senate, she served on the Sanger City Council. In 2020, she was appointed to Joe Biden's National Latino Leadership Committee. She continues to hold her seat in the California State Senate following her re-election in 2022.
