Zaynab Mohamed is an American politician serving as a member of the Minnesota Senate since 2023, representing District 63 in southeast Minneapolis. Born in Somalia, she immigrated to the United States at age nine and later graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in human resources. Before her election, she worked as a community advocacy manager for the Council on American-Islamic Relations and as a policy aide for the Minneapolis City Council. Mohamed is noted for being the youngest woman ever elected to the Minnesota legislature and one of the first Black women to serve in the state Senate. Her political platform focuses on public safety reform, universal health care, and establishing a statewide $15 minimum wage.
