Meritxell Batet

Meritxell Batet Lamaña is a Spanish jurist and politician who served as the President of the Congress of Deputies from 2019 to 2023. A member of the Socialists' Party of Catalonia (PSC), she previously held the position of Minister for Territorial Policy and Civil Service in the government of Pedro Sánchez. Before her parliamentary career, she was a lecturer of Constitutional Law at Pompeu Fabra University. Throughout her tenure, she has been recognized for her work on constitutional reform and her commitment to democratic institutions.
