Metin Hakverdi

Metin Hakverdi is a German politician and lawyer who has served as a member of the Bundestag for the Hamburg-Bergedorf – Harburg district since 2013. A member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), he has held the position of Coordinator of Transatlantic Cooperation at the Federal Foreign Office since 2025. Prior to his federal parliamentary career, he served in the Parliament of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg from 2008 to 2013. Hakverdi is known for his focus on budget, European affairs, and transatlantic relations, having participated in various parliamentary friendship groups and academic fellowships at institutions including Harvard University and Johns Hopkins University.
