Mevlüt Karakaya is a Turkish politician and academic who has served as a Member of the Grand National Assembly for Adana since 2015. Born in 1963, he pursued a distinguished academic career, earning a professorship at age 37 and conducting research at institutions including Indiana University, Michigan State University, and Purdue University. He also served at the World Bank and taught at several Turkish universities. A long-time member of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), he was appointed Deputy Leader in 2011 with a focus on party finance.
