Michael Kretschmer

Michael Kretschmer is a German politician who has served as the Minister-President of the Free State of Saxony since 2017. A member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), he previously served as a member of the German Bundestag from 2002 to 2017. Since 2019, he has represented the constituency of Görlitz 2 in the Landtag of Saxony. Kretschmer is known for his focus on regional economic development, digital transformation, and his controversial stances on foreign policy, particularly regarding Russia and the war in Ukraine.
