Michael Makurath is a German local politician who has served as the Lord Mayor (Oberbürgermeister) of the city of Ditzingen since 1999. As the longest-serving Lord Mayor in Baden-Württemberg, he has overseen significant infrastructure projects, including the construction of bypass roads and various sports facilities. Although he is a non-partisan politician, he is a member of the SPD faction in the Stuttgart Regional Assembly and holds numerous leadership positions in municipal associations, including the presidency of the Association of Baden-Württemberg Mayors.
