Michael Pengilly

Michael Pengilly is an Australian politician currently serving as the Mayor of Kangaroo Island. He previously represented the seat of Finniss in the South Australian House of Assembly from 2006 to 2018 as a member of the Liberal Party. Throughout his career, he has held various board positions, including chairman of the SA Country Fire Service Board and the Hills Mallee and Southern Regional Health Service Board. Known for his outspoken nature, Pengilly has been involved in several public controversies regarding his social media comments and policy stances, including his advocacy for seal culling to protect the fishing industry. He was elected to his current mayoral role in 2018.
