Michael Shanks

Michael Shanks is a British politician serving as the Member of Parliament for Rutherglen since 2024, having previously represented Rutherglen and Hamilton West since 2023. Born in 1988, he worked as a teacher and charity worker before entering politics. He currently serves as the Minister of State for Energy. Shanks has been involved in various community initiatives and gained public attention for his project to run every street in Glasgow. Politically, he is a member of the Labour Party and has held frontbench roles within the government.
