Matt Bishop

Matt Bishop is a British Labour Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for the Forest of Dean since July 2024. Before his election to the House of Commons, he worked in policing, children’s social care, and housing enforcement, and served as a local councillor and committee chair on the Forest of Dean District Council. His parliamentary work focuses on education, law and order, the NHS, and local infrastructure. Bishop is a member of the Justice Select Committee and has served on several legislative committees, including those focused on crime, policing, and children's wellbeing.
