Profile
Miho Takai is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Miyoshi City in Tokushima Prefecture. A graduate of Waseda University, she began her career at Daiei before entering national politics. She served three terms as a member of the House of Representatives, during which she held positions as Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and later as State Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. Following her tenure in the national Diet, she served two terms as a member of the Tokushima Prefectural Assembly. Elected as Mayor of Miyoshi in 2021 and re-elected in 2025, she has focused on local initiatives such as the implementation of a partnership and family-ship oath system for same-sex couples.
