Born in Hiroshima, she had a long career at Television Shin-Hiroshima, where she worked as an announcer, news reporter, and director before entering politics. In 2022, she was elected to the House of Councillors representing the Hiroshima constituency. Politically, she advocates for progressive policies, including the introduction of selective separate surnames for married couples, the legalization of same-sex marriage, and the implementation of a gender quota system.
