Mikio Tanaka is a Japanese politician currently serving his fifth term as the Mayor of Nanto City in Toyama Prefecture. Born in 1961 in the former Toga Village, he graduated from Kogakuin University before working at YKK and later serving as a local government official in Toga. He began his political career as a member of the Nanto City Council in 2004 and was first elected mayor in 2008. Throughout his tenure, he has focused on regional revitalization, including efforts centered on local performing arts. He is also known for his involvement in the Association of Mayors for Creating Meiji Day.
