Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is a Bangladeshi politician, economist, and teacher who serves as the secretary general of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and as a member of parliament for the Thakurgaon-1 constituency. Born in 1948 in Thakurgaon District, he completed his education at Dhaka College and the University of Dhaka before starting his career as an economics professor and government auditor. Entering formal politics in the late 1980s, he previously served as a state minister for agriculture and for civil aviation and tourism from 2001 to 2006. Over decades of political activity, he has emerged as a prominent opposition leader and spokesperson advocating for liberal democratic principles.
