Mohamed Semra

Mohamed Semra is an Australian politician serving as the Mayor of the City of Maribyrnong since June 2026. He holds the distinction of being the first person of Sub-Saharan African descent to be elected mayor in Australia. Before entering formal politics, he co-founded the local community organization Endeavour Youth Australia and was a nominee for the Young Australian of the Year in 2023. His mayoral campaign and rise to public office were featured in the Australian documentary series Australian Story, and he is noted for his effective use of social media platforms to engage with his constituents.
