Shuichi Abe is the Governor of Nagano Prefecture, currently serving his fourth term. A former bureaucrat in the Ministry of Home Affairs, he has held significant administrative roles including Vice Governor of Nagano and Vice Mayor of Yokohama. In 2010, he was first elected as Governor of Nagano, campaigning on a platform of administrative reform and the implementation of a 'Shinshu-style' business screening process. Known for his focus on regional revitalization and administrative efficiency, he was elected as the 16th Chairman of the National Governors' Association in 2025.
