Muktar Aliyu Betara is a Nigerian accountant and veteran lawmaker who has served as a member of the House of Representatives since 2007. Representing the Biu/Bayo/Shani and Kwaya Kusar Federal Constituency of Borno State, he has held several high-profile leadership positions, including Chairman of the House Committee on the Army, Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, and Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations. He is widely recognized for his role in reforming Nigeria's budget cycle to a January-to-December schedule to improve fiscal implementation. Before entering politics, he worked as an accountant for the Presidency and later as a manager at the Nigerian Telecommunication Limited (NITEL).
