Murat Kaya is a Turkish politician and businessman currently serving as a Member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey for Sakarya. Born in Geyve, Sakarya, in 1972, he graduated from the Department of Librarianship at Istanbul University. Kaya began his political career as a founding district head for the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) in Geyve in 2001. He later served as the Mayor of Geyve for three terms between 2009 and 2023, before resigning to successfully run for parliament in the 2023 general elections.
