Önder Aksakal is a Turkish politician and civil engineer who has served as the Chairman of the Democratic Left Party (DSP) since 2015. Born in 1960 in Antalya, he worked as a civil engineer in various sectors before entering politics. Following his imprisonment after the 1980 military coup, he became active in the DSP, eventually rising to leadership. In the 2023 general election, he was elected to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey representing Istanbul, having led his party into an electoral alliance with the Justice and Development Party (AKP).
