Nesil Caliskan is a British Labour politician serving as the Member of Parliament for Barking since 2024. She is the first person of Turkish-Cypriot heritage to be elected to the UK Parliament. In May 2026, she was appointed as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. Previously, she served as the Leader of Enfield Council from 2018 to 2024, where she was the youngest female council leader in the country at the time of her appointment. Her political career has focused on local government, community development, and public service.
