Shohei Niimi is a Japanese politician currently serving as a member of the House of Councillors, representing the Kyoto Prefecture constituency. Before entering politics, he had a prominent career as an announcer for Kansai Television, where he served as the main anchor for news programs such as 'Hodo Runner.' A graduate of Kyoto University's Faculty of Law, he is also a certified disaster prevention specialist. In his political platform, Niimi advocates for the implementation of 'push-type' administrative support services using digital tools, the transition of the public pension system to a fully funded model, and the prohibition of corporate and organizational political donations to ensure direct accountability to individual citizens.
