Nino Haase

Nino Haase is a German politician and the current Mayor of Mainz. Born in Dresden, he studied chemistry at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and worked as a researcher before transitioning into various roles, including startup management and radio broadcasting. Haase gained public attention as a winner of the television show 'Schlag den Raab' and later as a civic activist who successfully led a citizens' initiative against the construction of a controversial museum tower in Mainz. Running as an independent candidate, he was elected Mayor in March 2023, securing a decisive victory in the runoff election.
