Norma Torres is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for California's 35th congressional district. Born in Guatemala, she immigrated to the United States as a child and later worked as a 9-1-1 dispatcher, where she became an active labor union member. Before her election to Congress in 2014, she served on the Pomona City Council, as the Mayor of Pomona, and in the California State Assembly and State Senate. A member of the Democratic Party, Torres focuses on labor rights, public safety, and maternal health, and she maintains a strong pro-choice voting record.
