Omar Fateh

Omar Fateh is an American politician serving as a member of the Minnesota Senate, representing District 62 in Hennepin County. Born in Washington, D.C., to Somali immigrant parents, he is the first Somali American and Muslim to serve in the Minnesota Senate. A member of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, Fateh is known for his progressive platform, including advocacy for labor protections, housing stability, and public health-oriented approaches to homelessness. He previously worked in voter outreach and for the state of Minnesota before his election to the legislature in 2020.
