Omar García Harfuch

Omar García Harfuch is a Mexican politician and public official currently serving as the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection in the cabinet of President Claudia Sheinbaum. A former police chief, he previously served as the Secretary of Citizen Security of Mexico City from 2019 to 2023, where he was credited with significant reductions in homicide rates. He was elected as a Senator in 2024 before transitioning to his current cabinet position. García Harfuch holds degrees in law and public security and has an extensive background in federal law enforcement, including leadership roles in the Criminal Investigation Agency and the Federal Police.
