Tomomi Otsuji is a Japanese politician serving as a member of the House of Councillors, representing the Kagoshima Prefecture constituency. Born in Kagoshima City, she graduated from Waseda University and previously worked at Mitsui & Co. and a law firm before serving as a secretary to her father, former House of Councillors President Hidehisa Otsuji. She was elected to the House of Councillors in 2025 as an independent candidate with the support of the Constitutional Democratic Party and other opposition groups, becoming the first woman from Kagoshima to be elected to the national Diet from a constituency. In 2026, she joined the parliamentary group 'Team Mirai and Independents'. She maintains an independent status and has emphasized a political approach inspired by her father's motto of 'thoroughly observing from an insect's eye perspective'.
