Shigeharu Aoyama is a Japanese politician, crisis management consultant, and author currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives. Before entering politics, he worked as a journalist for Kyodo News and later founded the Independent Institute, where he specialized in national security, energy policy, and crisis management. A former member of the House of Councillors, he is known for his advocacy of constitutional reform, the development of domestic energy resources such as methane hydrate, and a strong stance on national sovereignty. He currently serves as State Minister of the Environment.
