P. Viswanathan is an Indian politician currently serving as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for the Melur constituency in Tamil Nadu. Elected to the assembly in May 2026, he is a member of the Indian National Congress. Shortly after his election, he was appointed as the Minister for Higher Education in the TVK-led government of Tamil Nadu. In addition to his state-level duties, he has also been associated with the Parliament of India representing the Kancheepuram constituency.
