Patricia Parga Vega

Patricia Parga Vega is a Belgian politician representing the Marxist party PVDA-PTB. Born in Santiago, Chile, she comes from a family with a strong political background; her father served in the government of socialist president Salvador Allende, and her brother was killed following the 1973 coup d'état by Augusto Pinochet. Parga Vega studied journalism and social communication, later working as an independent journalist and editor for the Chilean magazine AguaTinta while advocating for human rights and social causes. In the June 2024 regional elections, she was elected to the Parliament of the Brussels-Capital Region and subsequently became the vice-chair of its Finance and General Affairs Committee.
