Patxi López is a Spanish politician currently serving as a Member of the Congress of Deputies. A prominent figure in the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE), he previously served as the President of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country from 2009 to 2012, becoming the first non-nationalist Lehendakari in the region's history. He also held the position of President of the Congress of Deputies in 2016. Throughout his career, López has been a vocal opponent of Basque independence and a long-standing advocate for socialist policies within Spain.
