Peggy Flanagan

Peggy Flanagan is an American politician and Ojibwe activist serving as the 50th Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota since 2019. A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party, she previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019 and on the Minneapolis Public Schools Board. As a progressive leader, she has advocated for universal health care, the protection of Indigenous rights, and gender-affirming care. In 2023, she became the first Native American woman to lead a national political party committee as chair of the Democratic Lieutenant Governors Association.
