Pekka Haavisto

Pekka Haavisto is a Finnish politician and member of the Green League who currently serves as a Member of the Parliament of Finland. A veteran figure in Finnish politics, he previously served as the Minister for Foreign Affairs from 2019 to 2023 and held the position of Minister of the Environment in the late 1990s. Throughout his career, Haavisto has been deeply involved in international diplomacy, working extensively with the United Nations and the European Union on peace talks and environmental research in conflict zones. He has been a prominent candidate in multiple Finnish presidential elections, notably becoming the first openly gay candidate to reach a presidential runoff.
