Peter Roche is an Irish politician serving as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Galway East constituency, having been elected in the 2024 general election. Prior to his national parliamentary role, he served as a Fine Gael member of the Galway County Council for the Tuam area from 2009 to 2024, where he also held the position of Cathaoirleach of the Tuam district. Roche previously contested elections as an independent candidate in 1999 and 2004 before joining Fine Gael. During the 2026 Irish fuel protests, he was noted for his efforts to facilitate dialogue between protesters and the government, though he ultimately voted to support the government during a subsequent motion of no confidence. He is married and has four sons.
