Pier Ferdinando Casini is an Italian politician and long-serving parliamentarian. Born in Bologna in 1955, he began his political career within the Christian Democracy party and later became a founding member of the Christian Democratic Centre. He served as President of the Chamber of Deputies from 2001 to 2006. Throughout his extensive career, he has been a prominent figure in centrist politics, leading the Union of the Centre and later founding the Centrists for Europe movement. Having been elected to the Italian Parliament continuously since 1983, he is one of the longest-serving members in the history of the Italian Republic, known for his pragmatic approach and focus on moderate, pro-European policies.
