Pierrette Ringuette is a Canadian politician serving as a member of the Senate of Canada. Born in Edmundston, New Brunswick, she made history as the first francophone woman elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in 1987. She later served as a Liberal Member of Parliament for Madawaska—Victoria from 1993 to 1997. Appointed to the Senate in 2002, she eventually left the Liberal caucus to sit as an Independent, later joining the Independent Senators Group to advocate for a non-partisan upper chamber.
