Iris Petten is a Canadian senator representing Newfoundland and Labrador. Born in Port de Grave, she holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Vocational Education, and an Honorary Doctor of Laws from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Before her appointment to the Senate in 2023, she had a distinguished career in the fishing industry, serving as a founding shareholder and vice-president of Grand Atlantic Seafoods and co-founding Ocean Choice International. She also served three terms as the chair of the Board of Regents of Memorial University of Newfoundland from 2013 to 2022. She currently sits as an independent member of the Senate.
