Pita Tipene

Pita Tipene is a New Zealand politician and Māori leader who has served as the chair of the Northland Regional Council since November 2025. Raised in Motatau, he previously held the position of chair for the Waitangi National Trust for seven years. In June 2025, he was appointed a Companion of the King's Service Order in recognition of his three decades of service to the Māori community. As a regional leader, Tipene has advocated for respectful discourse between central government ministers and local councils.
