
Prasun Banerjee

Prasun Banerjee is an Indian politician and former professional footballer currently serving as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha representing the Howrah constituency. Before entering politics, he had a distinguished athletic career, captaining the India national football team and winning the Arjuna Award in 1979. He made history in 2013 by becoming the first professional footballer to be elected to the Indian Parliament. A graduate of the University of Calcutta, he is a member of the Trinamool Congress party.
