Dame Priti Patel is a British politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for Witham since 2010. A prominent figure on the right wing of the Conservative Party, she has held several high-profile cabinet positions, including Home Secretary from 2019 to 2022 and Secretary of State for International Development from 2016 to 2017. Since November 2024, she has served as the Shadow Foreign Secretary. Ideologically Thatcherite, Patel is known for her socially conservative views and her leading role in the Vote Leave campaign during the 2016 Brexit referendum. Her career has spanned both public service and corporate relations, including roles at Weber Shandwick and Diageo prior to her election to the House of Commons.
