Purnesh Modi is an Indian politician serving as a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly representing the Surat West constituency. First elected in a 2013 by-election, he has been re-elected to the seat in 2017 and 2022. He gained national attention in 2019 for filing a criminal defamation case against Rahul Gandhi, which eventually led to Gandhi's temporary disqualification from the Lok Sabha in 2023. Modi is a prominent figure within the Bharatiya Janata Party in Gujarat.
