Purnima Chakraborty is an Indian politician currently serving as a Member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly representing the Shyampukur constituency. She also holds the position of Minister of State for the Department of Information & Culture and the Department of Tourism. Before entering politics, she worked as a social worker and served as a sevait at the Radha-Madhab Mandir in Kolkata. Following the death of her husband, a police officer, she declined a government job offer, choosing instead to pursue a political career with the Bharatiya Janata Party to challenge the incumbent administration.
