Q Manivannan is an Indian-born politician serving as a Member of the Scottish Parliament for the Edinburgh and Lothians East region since 2026. A nonbinary and transgender individual, they were among the first openly transgender people elected to the Scottish Parliament. Manivannan holds a Bachelor of Arts from O. P. Jindal Global University and a Master of Philosophy from Trinity College Dublin, and previously worked in education consultancy. Their political career began with a candidacy for the City of Edinburgh Council before their election to Holyrood. Manivannan's residency and visa status have been subjects of significant public and political debate following their election.
