R. Vaithilingam is an Indian politician currently serving as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for the Orathanad constituency. A long-time political figure in Tamil Nadu, he previously served as the Minister for Housing and Urban Development and was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 2016 to 2022. Formerly a prominent member of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), he was expelled from the party in 2022 and subsequently joined the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), winning his assembly seat under their banner in 2026.
