Raphael Warnock is an American politician and Baptist pastor serving as the junior United States senator from Georgia since 2021. He has served as the senior pastor of Atlanta's Ebenezer Baptist Church since 2005. Before his election to the Senate, he gained prominence as a civil rights activist and leader in the campaign to expand Medicaid in Georgia. A member of the Democratic Party, Warnock is the first African American to represent Georgia in the U.S. Senate and has focused his legislative efforts on voting rights, healthcare access, and economic relief.
